D-Lav (a.k.a. Mike Laven & David Laven) are brothers and the co-founders and production force behind Slanted House Records  the Boston, MA based record label which has quickly gained international prominence since its inception in the summer of 2003. Commonly referred to as the Slanted sound', Slanted House Records currently has 40 releases, with a wide range of production talent hailing from the USA, Portugal, Mexico, Norway, and The Netherlands.  Slanted's refined writing style and history of releasing music that sounds unlike anything else available is what has helped the label stand out in the vast world of house music labels.  With nearly thirty original productions and remixes in their discography, Shlavens & D-Lav's recent career highlights include releases on Distraekt Records (UK), Sound Groove Recordings (USA), Taste Traxx (USA), and Kult Records (USA).  The duo's tracks continue to garner strong support from a wide variety of superstar DJ's including John Acquaviva, Satoshie Tomiie, Hector Romero, Saeed & Palash, Angel Moraes, Stephan Grodin, Jon Gurd, The Sultan, Villo,  and Craig Mitchell.  Their tracks have been featured on a several worldwide dance music charts including Beatport's Top 50 Tracks of 2004, John Acquaviva's Top Ten on Beatport, 2005, and the Balance Record Pool Top 40.   The Slanted House artist roster continues to grow with the launch of Slanted Black - their tribal house sub-label - adding some of the world's most established production talents including Lance Jordan, Trendroid/Brick City, Orange Facotry, Cytric, Manuel Neztic, Dave From Dallas, Jordan Rivera, Holosound and Bassmint. As DJ's, Shlavens & D-Lav are currently performing regularly at Rise-Afterhours (Boston), Underbar (Boston), Vertigo/Analog Lounge (Boston), 360(Boston), 33(Boston), Mantra (Boston), and have played numerous other venues including  Metronome  Embassy (Boston), Stereo Bar (Montreal), Club Velvet (Montreal), Happy Valley (NYC), and Rage (MA).  Shlavens & D-Lav have appeared at the Pride Vermont, Pride Worcester, and Abundance Dance Music festivals, and from 2001
to 2003 they were weekly residents at Brooklyn's Bar Below (NYC) where they showcased their live, improvised performance show, using turntables, synths, drum machines, and laptops for live production.  The duo's original mixes are also frequently featured on both the XM and Sirius satellite radio networks. In 2006, Slanted House launched Slanted House Radio, a weekly podcast with over 7,000 current subscribers, to great international acclaim.  Hosted by Shlavens, Slanted House Radio showcases
exclusive DJ mixes from both in-house and worldwide talent for its listeners each week.  Featuring on-air interviews, info on the artists and tracks, and interaction with the its audience through email and voice mail, Slanted House Radio has taken podcasting to an entirely new level with its refined format and strong production aesthetics.
